Diana's illness was severe and had a big impact on her life in her final years. Trevor became her carer as they battled the onset of late stage Parkinson's. However, in 2016, Diana moved to live full time in a care home and passed away on 1 March 2017 in the local Downley nursing home. Trevor struggled to come to terms with losing Di, but slowly started to carve out a new routine as he passed the milestone of 80 years. He had a necessary knee replacement in January 2018 which aided his mobility, and a second one a year later. Following the second operation it became noticeable that Trevor was struggling with his breathing and soon afterwards emphysema was diagnosed. Despite his deteriorating condition, Trevor did his best to visit Cornwall, entertain family, play a continued role in the Wesley community and follow his sporting teams. Even throughout the lockdown, Trevor kept up his spirits and attended Wesley when he could, whilst enjoying restaurant visits (eat out to help out) with friends on a regular basis in the summer and early autumn. Until the end, he maintained a hopeful and positive outlook.
